Support

Key Alpha Xi Delta benefits to Western Kentucky University:
  • You get a personal commitment and a volunteer structure built to ensure a healthy beginning for the WKU colony. Our Sisters will be there to help make sure Alpha Xi Delta thrives at WKU.
  • You can benefit from programming such as StrengthsQuest, Bridges and Leadership Coaches that will afford colony members many opportunities to enjoy experiences that will positively shape their college years and beyond.
  • More than $125,000 biennially in scholarships and grants to collegiate members to assist them in completing undergraduate studies or to further their education.
  • You get an organization that has a successful philanthropic partnership with one of the nation’s largest autism science and advocacy organizations, Autism Speaks.
Alpha Xi Delta will provide the following resources to make sure our new colony gets off to a strong start.

Fraternity Headquarters Staff - Our staff structure is markedly different from other NPC groups. We divide the country into four territories (Northeast, Southeast, Midwest and West) and have an Associate Director of Member Services (AD) who lives and maintains her office within her territory. Each AD works with approximately 30-35 chapters, which gives her plenty of time to personally help and visit each chapter. In addition to this staff member, the Finance and Operations, Public Relations, and Housing departments at Fraternity Headquarters, located in Indianapolis, Indiana, provide additional support to our colonies.

National Volunteer Structure: National Directors
Our National New Chapter Development Director helps each colony get off to a healthy start by serving as support and visiting the WKU colony to work with the members, Educational Leadership Consultants and, most importantly, the local advisory board, to help them use the materials provided by the National Fraternity in the most effective manner possible.

Educational Leadership Consultant
On-site supervision and hands-on support for our colonies is provided by an Educational Leadership Consultant. An ELC is a Sister who recently graduated from college and is skilled at inspiring others to realize their potential. ELCs receive extensive training in colony development and support, create a new member orientation program tailored specifically to the colony members, and create a weekly agenda to best suit the needs of the colony.

Colony Development Specialist
A Colony Development Specialist is a volunteer who works exclusively with a colony to provide additional support during its first two years. The CDS works with the colony/new chapter even after the ELC’s yearlong commitment and focuses on recruitment, officer training, new member and scholarship programming, financial responsibility, interpreting policy, and appointing and training the local advisory board.

Recruitment Team
Alpha Xi Delta will provide extra recruitment support during the colony’s first five years to make sure the new group develops healthy practices and maintains a strong membership base.

Graduate Consultant
If the colony would benefit from additional support and guidance, an Alpha Xi Delta who attends or plans to attend grad school on your campus or at a nearby institution will serve as a Graduate Consultant. This alumna has extensive knowledge in general chapter matters, colony-specific issues and the colonization process.

Area Facilitator
An Area Facilitator is a national volunteer who guides and oversees two or three established chapters. After a colony’s second year on campus, the AF takes over for the Colony Development Specialist, brings the new chapter into our standard support structure and helps it become a self-sustaining chapter in good standing.

Local Chapters
In addition to a strong alumnae advisory presence, peer mentoring is another resource crucial to a colony’s success. Our chapters in the area are ready to act as mentors, friends and surrogate “big sisters” to a colony at WKU. Our chapters at the Indiana University and Wright State University will be the primary source of support for this colony.

Advisory Board
The most critical part of any colonization’s success is the presence of a strong, well-trained local advisory board. The board is what will ultimately sustain a chapter beyond its infancy. Alpha Xi Delta has already begun the process of locating local alumnae who are interested in serving as advisors to a WKU chapter. An Alpha Xi Delta advisory board includes at least seven advisors: chapter advisor, financial advisor, membership advisor, academic achievement advisor, programs advisor, new member program advisor and public relations advisor.

Panhellenic Support
Would ya…could ya…be a FOX? Alpha Xi Delta recognizes that the WKU Panhellenic community is vibrant and unique. As such, we will seek the assistance of community members to be sure our colonization efforts and colony development plans are the best they can be. A FOX is a “Friend of Xi,” and we ask that each chapter identify a few key leaders to join this elite team. These women serve as vital advisors, advocates and cheerleaders for our colonization efforts in the time leading up to pledging, and often serve as role models to our new colony members as they begin to shape their vision of the future.
