About

The young women who founded Alpha Xi Delta at Lombard College (now known as Knox College) in Galesburg, Illinois, in the late 1800s were searching for “something more.” As 10 of only a handful of women at this co-educational institution, these friends longed for an organization that would provide social activities, a home away from home and the opportunity to serve those less fortunate in the community. These pioneering women created the organization we know today as Alpha Xi Delta – a fraternity committed to the academic, personal and professional success of each member.

Alpha Xi Delta’s vision, “Inspiring women to realize their potential,” means we help members recognize and maximize their strengths and talents within a Sisterhood that’s special, meaningful and lasting.
